Acts 1:1-14

1. Fear of hypocrisy - Am I worthy?

Romans 3:23-24 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God , 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus

2. Fear of inadequacy - Am I capable?

Matthew 10:21-23 21 " Brother will betray brother to death , and a father his child ; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death . 22 " You will be hated by all because of My name , but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved . 23 "But whenever they persecute you in one city , flee to the next ; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes

3. Fear of consequence - Will I suffer?

4. Apathy - Must I act?

Luke 18:9-14 9 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous , and viewed others with contempt : 10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray , one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector . 11 "The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself : 'God , I thank You that I am not like other people : swindlers , unjust , adulterers , or even like this tax collector . 12 'I fast twice a week ; I pay tithes of all that I get .' 13 "But the tax collector , standing some distance away , was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven , but was beating his breast , saying , 'God , be merciful to me, the sinner !' 14 "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other ; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled , but he who humbles himself will be exalted ." s far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13 Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. 14 For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.

John 6:66-67 66 As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go away also, do you?"

John 4:4-14 4 And He had to pass through Samaria . 5 So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar , near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph ; 6 and Jacob's well was there . So Jesus, being wearied from His journey , was sitting thus by the well . It was about the sixth hour. 7 There came a woman of Samaria to draw water . Jesus said to her, "Give Me a drink ." 8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food . 9 Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew , ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God , and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink ,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." 11 She said to Him, " Sir , You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep ; where then do You get that living water? 12 "You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well , and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?" 13 Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again ; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst ; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."
