Joshua 1:1-9

1 Corinthians 10:6 Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. NASU

• To not Crave Evil Things!

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. NASU

• To Instruct Us to Walk in Humility!

Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• To Have Hope through Perseverance and Encouragement!

Romans 4:22 Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. 23 Now not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him, 24 but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.

• To Produce in Us Saving Faith!

Every Believer Has a God Given Assignment(s)! Joshua 1:1-9

Moses – Moves a People out of Bondage to Freedom.

Joshua – Moves a People into Conquest and Rest!

• To Make God Known to the World – To Make God Known to His Enemies!

• To Be Used to Bring People Out of Lostness and Bondage to Victory and Rest!

What Brings Joshua to this New Assignment? A Faithful Past!

• Moses Dead – A New Beginning!
• I have a new Assignment For You!
• Be Courageous!
• Listen to the Word of God!
• Do the Word of God!
• Be Prosperous in this Assignment!
• Always know God is With You!

• The Believer Always Faces Warfare!
• Every Battle Belongs to God !
  
  2. Joshua’s First Experience of God’s Presence!

Exodus 24:9 Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 and they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself. 11 Yet He did not stretch out His hand against the nobles of the sons of Israel; and they saw God, and they ate and drank. 12 Now the Lord said to Moses, "Come up to Me on the mountain and remain there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandment which I have written for their instruction." 13 So Moses arose with Joshua his servant, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.
