Conquering Sin!

1. My Sin Brings Grief!

Psalm 32:1-6 – The Grief of Sin and It’s Remedy!

The Warning!

Genesis 4:7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." NASU

1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

2. You Can Be Free From Sin’s Power!

The Promises of God!

John 8:34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 " The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. 36 "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!

  • Know and Believe What Christ Has Done!

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Isaiah 1:2 "An ox knows its owner, And a donkey its master's manger, But Israel does not know, My people do not understand."

Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him —

Knowledge and the Word of God!

Psalm 119:133 Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.

  • Reckon Yourself Dead to Sin and Alive to God!
  • Yield To God, Not to Sin!

Peter makes a similar appeal - 1 Peter 2:9-11

Romans 12:1 I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which your spiritual service of worship”

1 Corinthians 9:27 "I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest possibly, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified"

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
